Festival Fling

10 p.m. to Midnight Host: Steve Winters

It’s summer folk festival time — those gatherings of community and a coming together for a common purpose in a spirit of harmony and a search for a common body and soul in folk music. In fact, we’re away at a festival this weekend, but we offer selections for the first hour from the Philadelphia Folk Festival and the Old Songs Festival at Altamont, N.Y.

For the second hour, it’s a “program within a program” with a one-hour special from our good friends at Joyride Media that focuses on Bob Dylan’s Newport Folk Festival appearances in 1963, 1964 and 1965 and, as the producers aptly put it, “his transformation from acoustic newcomer to electric outlaw.”
