In Memoriam: Sandy Paton, 1/22/29 — 7/26/09

10 p.m. to Midnight Host: Steve Winters

This is our show in remembrance of Sandy Paton — musician and performer, song collector, scholar of folk music, sharer of songs and song knowledge, record company owner and producer and a treasured resource in American folk music.

Sandy died July 26, 2009 in Sharon, Connecticut, where he and Caroline, his wife and musical partner of 52 years-plus made their home and operated Folk-Legacy Records for nearly four and a half decades. He had been ill in recent years with severe emphysema. They were guests twice on "Profiles in Folk" and were strong supporters of the program through the years.

For an extended appreciation of Sandy and his contributions (along with Caroline) to American folk music that I wrote for Hearst’s four daily newspapers in Connecticut, please CLICK HERE
