In Memoriam: John McGann & Barney McKenna / Now Appearing

10 p.m. to Midnight Host: Steve Winters

In still yet another note of sadness, the first half of this program is dedicated to this past week's passing of multi-instrumentalist John McGann, longtime faculty member of the Berklee College of Music and a guitar/mandolin wizard whose playing graced oh so many albums including his own 1995 solo effort on Green Linnet, and the passing of Barney McKenna, an original member of the internationally-famed Dubliners, one of the early successes and motivating forces of the Irish folk music revival in the 1960s.

The second half was a “mini-concert” by just a handful of performers who will be gracing stages in our broadcast area during the next few days.

Our thanks to Red House Records who generously donated Eliza Gilkyson CDs to offer listeners in conjunction with Eliza’s two local appearances.
